AKSHAY HIREMATH

BIO

Akshay was born in Delhi, and was the youngest of three children.  His childhood was spent in Sofia (Bulgaria), Thimpu (Bhutan), Belgrade (Yugoslavia), and Vienna (Austria), as his father was the Indian Ambassador in these places. This exposed him to a lot of different cultures during his formative years.

When he was 16, his father retired, and the family returned to Delhi. He did his high school from Modern School (Delhi), his BA in Mathematics from Hindu College (Delhi), and his MBA from XLRI (Jamshedpur). 

​

He then spent 15 years in the corporate sector, working with first Britannia Industries Ltd, and then with Nokia India Pvt Ltd, serving in different roles in Sales and Marketing across Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Gurugram. 

​

His desire to be his own master drew him to entrepreneurship. He married his love for international travel, travel photography and collecting souvenirs, into a travel souvenir company, Memory Marg. 

​

Besides his love for travel, Akshay has several other interests, including Chess and Scrabble (in both of which he is a rated player), listening to pop and rock music, watching Hollywood and Bollywood movies, and following tennis. He is an avid blogger and has written over 130 blogs on his travels, and on other topics close to his heart.

​

He currently lives in Gurugram with his wife, Kamalini Roy, and young son, Rehaan.
